Nigerian International Passport - Application, Renewal & Re-issuance

Whether it's your first 64-page booklet, a renewal, or a lost-passport replacement - here's the complete process, requirements, and what slows people down.

The Nigerian International Passport is issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). With AMG, you skip the queues and the broken portals - we handle the application end-to-end at any NIS office nationwide or via the diaspora route.

Passport types

  • Standard 32-page (5-year validity) - basic travel
  • Standard 64-page (5 or 10-year validity) - frequent travellers
  • Official and Diplomatic - government use only

Fresh application - what you'll need

  • NIN (National Identification Number) - non-negotiable
  • Birth certificate or age declaration
  • Local Government Area (LGA) identification letter
  • Two recent passport photographs (white background)
  • Guarantor's form sworn before a Commissioner for Oaths
  • Parental consent + parents' data page (for minors under 18)

Renewal & re-issuance

  • Renewal: old passport + NIN + new photos. Easier and faster than fresh.
  • Re-issuance (lost/stolen): police report + sworn affidavit + newspaper publication + NIN
  • Damaged passport: surrender old booklet + standard renewal documents

Timelines

Renewals typically take 2–6 weeks; fresh applications 3–8 weeks depending on the NIS office and biometric capture slot. Lost/stolen replacements take longest due to the affidavit and publication requirement.
