NIN / BVN Name Mismatch - Why It's Blocking Your Registration & How To Fix It

Banks, CAC, and FIRS now cross-check NIN and BVN. One spelling difference and everything stalls. Here's the fix.

The most common 2026 blocker we see at AMG isn't paperwork - it's a mismatched NIN, BVN, or CAC name.

Where the mismatch shows up

  • Bank corporate account opening (BVN ≠ CAC director name)
  • TIN issuance via JTB
  • Passport application (NIMC name ≠ passport application name)
  • SCUML, SMEDAN, NEPC, NAFDAC submissions

How to fix it

  • NIN: visit any NIMC enrolment centre with sworn affidavit + supporting ID - modification can be free or token fee
  • BVN: walk into your bank with NIN slip + valid ID for harmonisation
  • CAC director name: file a 'change of particulars' (post-incorporation) - AMG handles this

Don't try to register through a mismatch - fix it first, then file. AMG can pre-audit your IDs before any application.
